Fighting For Her Page 10
Reagan erupt in laughter as she wiggled out from underneath me, climbing out of bed and briskly walking toward the bathroom, “Well in that case I better get cleaned up and ready for round two.” She shot a wink at me before pulling the door closed behind her.
CHAPTER TWENTY FOUR
Four days into our perfect honeymoon I was relaxing on the couch, enjoying a beer while Reagan lounged on the hammock that hung out over the water, soaking up the sun. Her body was glowing with a golden tan that made her all white barely there bikini stand out even more so than usual.
I couldn’t help but stare at her as she laid there, eyes closed, rubbing her belly. I knew she was daydreaming about the baby. She hadn’t stopped talking about the pregnancy since we landed. Each time we stopped at a store or boutique she would buy something to take home. She was ecstatic and I couldn’t help but be either. As I laid there sipping my beer I imagined what it would be like holding our baby for the very first time, whether it would be a boy or a girl, would it sleep through the night or keep us up for all hours crying.
A smile spread across my face as I thought about all of the outcomes and I quickly realized that I didn’t care, I just wanted to start a family with Reagan and we were already well on our way. Needing to be closer to my wife I placed my beer on the coffee table and made my way outside, climbing into the hammock with her.
“You think this hammock can withstand one of our crazy trysts?” I asked wrapping my arms around her as I gripped her ass and pulled her on top of me.
She laughed, “The hammock would probably be fine, you and I on the other hand, it may be a challenge.”
I smirked and began pulling at the strings on her bikini bottoms, “A challenge I’m willing to accept.”
I began maneuvering myself further underneath Reagan as she quickly discarded her top, fully exposing her supple breasts. She began kissing my lips as her nipples brushed against my chest. I moaned into her mouth just as my cell phone began to ring.
Reagan sat straight up, her hands resting on my chest to support her, “You should probably get that.”
I tried to pull her back down toward me, “They’ll call back later, right now the only thing I want to get is inside of you.”
Reagan skimmed her lips against mine and rested her forehead on mine, “We told them emergencies only, no one has called us yet, it’s got to be important.”
Groaning, I climbed off of the hammock and adjusted myself before making my way into the house toward my ringing cell phone. Casey’s number was lighting up the screen when I answered, “What?” I chided into the phone, irritated that I’d been taken away from my wife.
“Hey man, I hate bothering you on your honeymoon, but Addison just went into labor. We are at the hospital. I told her we’d tell you all when you got back but she demanded that I call. You know those two. She said Reagan would flip if she missed the birth of the baby.”
I knew in that very instant that our honeymoon would be cut short, very short. I sighed heavily into the phone, “I’ll let her know. Keep us posted. I’ll shoot you a text when we leave the airport.”
“Will do and I’m sorry man, I hate doing this to you, but you know these two, they’re inseparable.” Case said sympathetically.
Pinching the bridge of my nose I nodded my head, “I know, thanks for calling. We’ll see you all as soon as we can.” Hanging up the phone I turned and Reagan was standing there, her bathing suit back on, solidifying the fact that I wasn't going to get any anytime soon.
“What’s wrong? Is everything okay?” She asked, worry filling her voice.
“It looks like Addison and Case are going to have a baby.”
Reagan’s eyes lit up, fireworks bursting inside of them, “Oh Cole, we’ve got to get our things together and get home, I can’t miss this.” She said as she began rushing around the room picking up all of her things before she disappeared into the master bedroom.
I followed her and went straight toward the closet, pulling out both suitcases and setting them on the bed, “I figured as much, start packing and I’ll call the airport, make sure the plane is all set for departure.”
Reagan ran over to me and threw her arms around my neck, slamming her lips to mine before she began showering my face with feather light kisses, “I love you Mr. Conrad, I promise I’ll make it up to you somehow.” She winked before rushing over to the closet and pulling her clothes from the hangers. I smiled and stepped out of the room, leaving her to get everything in order while I dealt with the airport.
Two hours later we were in the air and on our way back home. Reagan was relaxing in the oversized leather lounge chair with her feet propped up watching a movie while she talked to Teresa about Addison’s progression, “Make sure she holds out, I know we’ve got 10 more hours in the air, but she has to wait, I can’t miss the birth of this baby.” The two of them went on for another half hour before hanging up.
I closed my laptop and walked over to Reagan, leaning down to kiss the top of her head, “I’m going to lie down and get some rest before we get home to all of the commotion, why don’t you come with me?”
Reagan smiled up at me, “This movie will be over in twenty minutes, I’ll be in just as soon as it finishes.”
I chuckled and shook my head, “Wake me up in a good way when you come to bed.”
I heard Reagan laugh as I turned and sulked back toward the bedroom, climbing into bed all on my own.

The wheels hitting the landing strip woke me up out of a sound sleep and I looked down to see Reagan snuggled up against my body, still passed out. This woman could sleep through a hurricane. I thought as I shook her lightly, “Baby wake up, we’re home.” Her body stirred, but she still didn’t wake up, so I began kissing her neck as my hands wandered down her chest and underneath the elastic of her sleeping pants.
Reagan let out a soft moan before opening her eyes, “Where are we?” She asked barely audible as she looked around the dark room.
“We just landed at home; we’ve got to get to the hospital.”
I watched as her eyes bugged out, “Addison!” She shouted before leaping up from the bed and quickly changing her clothes.
I followed suit and within minutes we were hopping into the back of a town car and on our way toward the hospital.
CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE
The waiting room was full of our family members when we’d arrived. All of them standing up to greet us and surprised we were back from our honeymoon so soon.
Reagan was ushered off to the delivery room as soon as we arrived, leaving me to take a seat next to my cousin Cade.
“Back so soon?” He asked sarcastically.
I couldn’t help the grunt of frustration I let out before I began to speak, “You know how Addison and Reagan are. There was no way Reagan was going to miss this. Once Case has a few hours with the baby I can assure you I’ll be kicking his ass for cutting my two weeks of straight sex way too short.”
Cade’s body shook with laughter before he leaned closer toward me, “Two weeks of straight sex pretty much sums up every day of my life. Oh the things you give up when you finally find the one.”
I glared at him from the corner of my eye, “Go fuck yourself.” I growled under my breath and that’s when he lost it.
His laughter filled the room and everyone turned to stare at the two of us before he reached around and slapped my back leaning in closer to me as he whispered, “You my friend are the only one who will be fucking yourself. I hope you stocked up on lube.”
I shoved my cousin away from me but couldn’t help but laugh at his statement.
Two hours had passed when Reagan and Teresa emerged from the delivery room, huge smiles plastered on both of their faces, “Baby Charlotte has arrived!” Teresa shouted for all of us to hear.
The room erupted as everyone began to congratulate Theo and Teresa along with Casey’s parents.
Reagan, of course, came right up to me and wrapped her arms around my wai
st, “Oh my goodness Cole, she is beautiful. I know newborn babies can be ugly, but not Charlotte. She is absolutely perfect.”
I smiled down at her as she reached into her pocket and took out her iPhone, “Look at these pictures, she is just precious.”
I took the phone from Reagan’s hand and scanned the pictures of the newest addition to our family. She hadn’t even been born an hour and Addison already had bows in her hair that were bigger than her head.
“She’s beautiful,” I said as I glanced down at my wife who was rubbing her hands over her own belly.
Not able to resist myself I leaned down and kissed her lips, “Before you know you and I will be back there in that room while all of the family waits out here for the announcement that our baby has arrived.”
Reagan looked up at me and smiled from ear to ear then reached for my arms before she pulled them around her, “I can’t wait.”
Family trickled in and out of the room for the next few hours and finally it had died down enough for Reagan and I to both go back together.
When we walked in Case was holding Charlotte and Addison was on the phone going over every detail of the delivery with God only knows who.
Reagan rushed right up to Case and gently took the baby from his hands, cradling her in her arms as she made her way over to me, “Baby Charlotte, this is your cousin Cole. Our job is to spoil you as often as possible and give you lots of little cousins to play with. In fact, we’ve already started on the cousins; I’ve got one baking in my tummy right now. I cannot wait to watch the two of you grow up together and become best friends just like your mommy and I and your daddy and Cole.”
I couldn’t stop staring as she cradled Charlotte in her arms, she was going to be an amazing mother and this was only making me want to start making more as soon as possible.
Reagan looked up at me, “You want to hold her?” She asked, her eyes beaming as if me saying yes would make her entire life.
A smile spread over my face, “Of course I do.”
Reagan gently passed Charlotte to me and I couldn’t help but be amazed by this tiny little human who was resting in my arms.
“A baby looks good on you.” I heard Addison say.
Glancing up at all of them I smiled, “She’s beautiful, congratulations to both of you.”
Case walked over to me and rested his hand on my shoulder, “Get your practice in now, this is going to be your life sooner rather than later.”
I looked down at Charlotte who was sleeping soundly in my arms and then over to Reagan who was rubbing her belly as she sat next to Addison and I couldn’t help but smile, “I’m ready. I think this life will suit us perfectly.”
Reagan peered up at me and smiled before going back to her conversation with Addison.
Meanwhile I sat down on the couch, Charlotte still sounds asleep in my arms and Casey took a seat next to me.
“On a scale of one to ten how pissed are you that we cut your honeymoon short?” Casey asked before he reached over and tightened Charlotte’s blanket.
“Before I’d held your kid I’d have said about a seventy five, but now, holding her and seeing how excited Reagan is to begin our life with our baby I’m not too pissed off.”
Addison barked my name from across the room, “Colton Conrad!”
We all looked up at her as she continued on, “No cursing in front of the baby!” She said, a laugh bubbling through her.
“Sorry.” I whispered, smiling at her before Reagan stood out of her chair and made her way over toward me, scooping Charlotte up in to her arms.
“He didn’t mean it baby girl, I promise, he’s harmless.” She leaned down and kissed the baby’s forehead before taking her seat next to Addison.
We stayed until visiting hours were over and then Reagan and I headed home. Reagan could not stop talking about how ready she was for our baby to be here.
CHAPTER TWENTY SIX
After spending the day with Case, Addison and baby Charlotte at their house I decided it was time for Reagan and me to figure out a plan of our own. I loved coming home to The Bellevue or Reagan’s house, but we needed a place of our own; somewhere our baby could call home when he or she finally arrived.
Reagan had been suffering from serious morning sickness for the past few weeks so I took it upon myself to meet with the realtor in order to get the ball rolling. I knew what she and I both liked so I was sure narrowing our selection down to a few houses wouldn’t be a problem.
I’d spent all day traveling from house to house in search of the best fit for our family when I’d finally decided on three possible houses.
The lights were all off when I got home and I figured Reagan was already in bed. I glanced down at my watch checking the time, it was after nine.
As I made my way toward our bedroom I swiped the laptop off of the kitchen counter and took it with me wanting to show Reagan the three houses I’d narrowed it down to.
She was lying in bed watching tv when I walked in. I kicked my shoes off before I sat down next to her in bed and leaned over to kiss her cheek, “Feeling better?” I asked, truly hoping she was.
She smiled up at me faintly, “Not really. I’m super queasy, but it’s not as bad as it was this morning.”
“Are you up to looking at a few pictures of the houses I walked through today?”
Her eyes lit up, “Yes! Let me see.”
Reagan pushed herself up and leaned against the headboard, shoulder to shoulder with me, “Let’s see what you’ve got.”
We spent the next two hours scanning pictures and discussing what we liked and disliked about each house, finally coming to an agreement together.
****
Two weeks later we were signed, sealed and delivered. It was the first day Reagan had actually felt well enough to get out of bed and I couldn’t wait to get her over to our new house. The movers had unpacked the entire house and all we had to do was show up.
I helped Reagan out of the front seat of my SUV and we both stood there, my arm around her shoulder and her hands resting on her belly.
“Welcome home, baby.” I said leaning down to kiss her and scooped her up into my arms.
Reagan laughed out loud, “Put me down, I can walk on my own.”
I shook my head no, “I don’t think so, I’m carrying you over the threshold whether you like it or not.”
Her arms wrapped snugly around my neck as she kissed my lips, “Fine, but make it quick, I’ve got to pee!”
I stepped in to the front door and placed Reagan down on her feet as we both stood there, taking in our new home. It was just as we’d both imagined an open floor plan with lots of bedrooms that needed to be filled with babies.
“I love it Cole. Everything about it is just perfect.” She pushed herself up on to her tip toes and kissed me, “I love you.” She whispered before running off toward the bathroom.
Later that night after we were fully settled in I took my wife room to room as I devoured her body in every square inch of our new house.
CHAPTER TWENTY SEVEN
I’d been at my computer for almost eight hours of the day working from home on one of my development projects so I could be with Reagan -who was still battling a terrible case of morning sickness- when I heard a blood curdling scream come from upstairs.
Leaping from my chair I rushed through the house taking the stairs two at a time before storming into our bedroom. I scanned the room and locked eyes on the bathroom door that was closed, sobs emerging from behind it.
I rushed over toward the closed door and reached for the handle forcing the door open as her cries grew louder. The sound of the door knob coming into contact with the wall behind it didn’t even phase me as I looked down at my wife who was sitting on the white tile floor in a sea of dark red blood.
Her skin was pale white, almost matching the tile. Tears streaming down her cheeks as she used all of her strength to look up at me.
“Reagan!” I shouted, collapsing down to my knees in front
of her as I pulled her body against mine, “What happened? Why are you bleeding?” I begged as I looked her body over for any visible wounds.
Her fragile frame shook in my arms as she sobbed into my chest, “The baby, Cole, something is wrong with the baby.”
My heart stopped beating as her words echoed over and over again in my head, the baby.
My hand pulled my cell phone from the pocket of my jeans and I dialed 911 as fast as my fingers would allow, Reagan still pressed up against my chest sobbing as the blood continued to pool beneath her.
“911, what is your emergency?” The stoic voice asked from the other line.
“My wife, something is wrong, she’s bleeding, please send help, she’s pregnant.” I shouted into the phone.
“Sir, please confirm your address and I will see that help is on the way.”
I rattled off our home address while doing my best to comfort my wife who was beginning to go limp in my arms. When Reagan’s head fell back and caught in the crook of my arm my world stopped and everything began to move in slow motion. I watched as my cell phone slipped from my free hand, crashing down onto the red stained tile.
I prayed to God that the dispatcher had caught the address as I scooped Reagan up into my arms. She was completely limp and unresponsive as I rushed down the stairs through the house and toward the front door.
Just as I reached the door the sound of sirens filled the driveway and I was met by two paramedics who were pushing a stretcher, the closer of the two reaching for Reagan.
“I’ve got her!” I shouted, not wanting anyone to take my wife from the safety of my arms.
“Sir, we’ve got to get her into the ambulance, please let us take her.” He responded sympathetically.
The realization that I was only wasting precious time took over and I quickly placed Reagan on the stretcher as the paramedics began working on her. Within moments we were all in the back of the ambulance and on our way to the emergency room, the sirens howling the entire way.
